Platelet Rich Plasma

PRP treatment begins with a small blood sample taken from your arm. This is placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood components. Platelets are rich in growth factors, which play a key role in tissue repair, collagen production and hair follicle stimulation. When PRP is introduced into the skin, it encourages cell renewal and collagen production, improving overall skin quality. When applied to the scalp, PRP stimulates dormant hair follicles, prolongs the growth phase of the hair cycle and improves blood supply to the follicles, supporting thicker, healthier hair growth.

PRP is a very safe treatment as it uses your own blood, meaning there is no risk of allergic reaction. As with any injectable or skin-based procedure, there are some risks, but these are minimised by careful patient selection and expert technique. All treatments are carried out by a highly experienced fully registered doctor using sterile equipment and medical-grade protocols. esults develop gradually as the skin and scalp respond to the growth factors and increase collagen and hair follicle activity. Improvements in skin quality may be seen within a few weeks, while hair restoration results typically become noticeable after 2–3 months, with continued improvement over time. A course of treatments is usually recommended for optimal results, followed by maintenance treatments depending on individual skin or hair concerns and goals.

Discomfort is generally minimal. We apply numbing cream before treatment to ensure you are as comfortable as possible. You may feel mild pressure or pinching during the procedure, but this is usually well tolerated.

Your appointment will begin with a consultation to discuss your goals, take a full medical history and carry out a detailed skin or scalp assessment. Photographs will be taken for your medical record and to allow us to monitor your results. A small blood sample will be taken and processed while numbing cream is applied. The PRP is then carefully introduced into the skin or scalp, depending on your treatment plan. The procedure itself takes approximately 30–45 minutes. After treatment, the skin or scalp may appear red with mild swelling for 24–48 hours. Most clients can return to normal activities the following day. We advise avoiding make up (for facial treatments), strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment and following the personalised aftercare advice provided.
